Innovative Facility Design Helps Healing Process
With a facility that was near the end of its useful life, North Valley Hospital turned to AHFD to guide them through constructing a new facility. They wanted to enhance their emergency, obstetrical, and surgical care while growing their outpatient practice.
Because North Valley Hospital truly believes in "putting patients first," they also wanted to build their critical access hospital replacement facility around the Planetree design philosophy, which emphasizes that the physical environment is vital to the healing process.
AHFD led the design process for implementing this philosophy, which meant that all the patient rooms at the hospital have access to a healing garden patio along with direct views of the mountains of the nearby Glacier National Park. The facility was designed to include efficient, "home-like" layouts that offer both solitude and social interaction. Gardens, indoor waterfalls, and aquariums connect patients with the relaxing and healing aspects of nature.
AHFD was able to provide the leadership and project delivery process that not only exceeded the Planetree objectives but also completed the facility on schedule and within an extremely tight budget.
