A Proven Team Captures $1.5 Million in Project Savings

Marshall County Hospital had an aging facility that was not meeting their current needs. In February 2008, they broke ground on a 65,000-square-foot critical access replacement hospital less than two miles from the old facility. With AHFD's leadership, the new Marshall County Hospital held its grand opening exactly one year later – on time and under budget.

Throughout the process, AHFD managed more than 20 local contractors and assembled a proven project team that handled unexpected challenges. These included abnormally heavy rains during the time the foundations and shell of the building were under construction. Even with these challenges, AHFD's leadership was able to steer the project to approximately $1.5 million in savings, which the owner used to upgrade the finishes throughout the project.

Now, the Benton community has a critical access hospital that offers them convenient access to quality healthcare. The hospital includes 25 private patient rooms, round-the-clock ambulance and emergency services, a One-Stop Clinic, home health services, medical offices, a full-service cafeteria, and several courtyard garden areas.

"AHFD's involvement in the entire process, from the master facility plan to the completion of the new hospital, was vital. AHFD – with Project Manager Mick Rhodes – provided the necessary oversight for our projects, ensuring that it stayed on time and under budget." – Kathy Long, CEO, Marshall County Hospital
