Steve Grode
Steve has over 31 years of healthcare planning, management and operations improvement experience, which allows him to quickly identify the key operational issues that will be most improved by creative facility planning and design. He has provided planning services for new facility and renovation projects totaling over $500 million for hospitals ranging in size from 25 to 800 beds.
Steve’s professional focus is on rural hospitals, acute-care medical centers, teaching hospitals, pediatric hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, outpatient rehabilitation facilities, physician clinics, women’s health services, cardio-pulmonary centers, information and communications systems, materials management systems and new services development.
“There are two kinds of planners, those who have never worked in a hospital setting, and those who have. If you don’t have the right experience, you tend to ask the wrong questions and define the box before the function. You need to define the function first. Space planning drives outcome. If you have a good plan and set the right parameters, you can build the right hospital. But if those parameters are not defined, you’ll never get as much from your investment as you should.”
