Dupont Hospital represents a joint venture with local physicians, including a variety of specialties, and the owner of the hospital. It is the only full-service hospital in the city designed by physicians for the comfort and care of their patients.
The Project Team was challenged to plan the facility with a focus on patient privacy, comfort and convenience. The result was the inclusion of 72 private rooms and 14 NICU beds. A central lobby was design to be a focal point which eases way-finding concerns by linking all of the hospital services. Asked to integrate natural lighting with the design, GS&P responded by surrounding the lobby with glass, including clerestory lighting above. The sun-lit lobby impresses visitors as they enter the facility and provides a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
